Introduction

Guru Harkrishan Educational Society (GHES), with the financial support of NABARD, conducted a Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme (MEDP) focusing on Artificial Jewellery Making. This programme aimed to empower rural women by equipping them with the skills necessary to create and market artificial jewellery, a product that is in high demand in local and urban markets. The training was held in Kujal Village, Jagadhri Block, Yamuna Nagar District, benefiting 30 rural women who were given the tools and knowledge to start their own small-scale ventures.
Programme Details

Training Schedule:
The programme was conducted from February 19, 2024, to March 10, 2024, for a duration of 20 days.
The training sessions were led by Mrs. Rekha, an experienced Master Trainer in artificial jewellery design and manufacturing.

Exposure Visit:
As part of the training, participants were taken on an exposure visit to Yamuna Nagar to gain real-world insights into the industry. The visit included:
Interaction with manufacturers specializing in artificial jewellery production.
Guidance on sourcing raw materials from wholesalers.
Exposure to the operational processes and market dynamics of the artificial jewellery industry.

Participants received hands-on training in creating a wide variety of artificial jewellery, including:
Necklaces and Earrings
Bracelets and Bangles
Rings and Anklets
Customizable Jewellery Sets
Traditional and Contemporary Designs

Inaugural and Valedictory Ceremonies

Inaugural Ceremony:
The programme was inaugurated by S. Ajinder Pal Singh, Chairman, GHES, who emphasized the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship for rural women. His address inspired participants to leverage this opportunity to enhance their livelihoods and achieve financial independence.

Valedictory Ceremony:
The programme concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony, where Mr. Pushpendra, DDM, NABARD, was the Chief Guest, and S. Kanwal jeet Singh, Director, RSETTI Yamuna Nagar, was the Guest of Honour. The event was presided over by S. Ajinder Pal Singh, Chairman, GHES. During the ceremony:
Certificates of completion were distributed to all participants.
Participants showcased their handcrafted jewellery, which received accolades from the dignitaries and attendees.
