Guru Harkrishan Educational Society (GHES), in collaboration with NABARD, successfully inaugurated a Common Facility Centre (CFC) under LEDP Jute Products initiative at Village Chaugawan, Block Indri, DistrictKarnal. The establishment of this facility aims to empower rural women by equipping them with skills in jute product manufacturing, thereby fostering sustainable livelihoods and financial independence.

Inauguration Ceremony
The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of a new journey towards women’s empowerment. Mr.SushilHinduja, LDM, Karnal, formally inaugurated the Common Facility Centre and commended GHES for its commendable efforts in promoting self-employment through skill-based training. Mr.Himanshu Khatri, DDM, NABARD, emphasized NABARD’s continuous support for rural
development initiatives and encouraged SHG members to leverage this opportunity for sustainable income generation.
Significance of the
Common Facility Centre
The CFC is strategically designed to serve as a hub for skill enhancement and production of high-quality jute products. The key objectives include:
- Skill Development: Providing comprehensive training in jute product manufacturing.
- Entrepreneurship Promotion: Encouraging women to start their own micro-enterprises.
- Market Linkage: Facilitating direct market access for handcrafted jute products.
- Employment Generation: Creating job opportunities for rural communities.

- S. Ajinder Pal Singh, Chairman, GHES, highlighted the organization’s commitment to rural empowerment through vocational training and thanked NABARD for its crucial support.

Demonstration & Interaction
Following the inauguration, the guests visited the training section, where trainees showcased their jute product crafting techniques. A variety of jute-based items were displayed, reflecting the participants’ newly acquired skills. The dignitaries engaged with the trainees, providing words of encouragement and discussing potential market avenues for their products.
