With Financial Support from NABARD
Introduction
Guru Harkrishan Educational Society (GHES) successfully conducted a Livelihood Entrepreneurship Development Programme (LEDP) focused on Jute Products Making. This initiative was financially supported by NABARD and aimed to empower rural women with entrepreneurial skills, equipping them with the ability to earn a sustainable livelihood through eco-friendly jute products. The programme was implemented in Chogawan Village, Indri Block, Karnal District, and benefited a total of 90 rural women, trained in three batches of 30 candidates each.
Programme Details
Training Schedule:
Batch 1: January 11, 2024 – January 30, 2024
Batch 2: January 31, 2024 – February 19, 2024
Batch 3: February 22, 2024 – March 12, 2024
Each batch underwent 20 days of comprehensive training under the guidance of Mrs. Kavita, an experienced Master Trainer in jute product-making.
Exposure Visit:
As part of the training, all participants were taken on an exposure visit to Panipat, a hub for jute manufacturing and trading. During this visit, participants:
Witnessed the operational processes at jute manufacturing units.
Interacted with wholesalers for understanding raw material procurement.
Gained valuable insights into the supply chain and market linkages.

Valedictory Ceremony
The programme concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony attended by distinguished guests:

During the ceremony, certificates of completion were distributed to all 90 participants, symbolizing their successful transformation into skilled artisans ready to contribute to the jute industry. The event also provided an opportunity to showcase the women’s creations, which received much appreciation from the dignitaries and attendees.

Economic Empowerment: Participants are now equipped with skills to generate income through jute product-making, contributing to the financial upliftment of their households.
